Our own practice experienced the same problem. Only to find out that our NPI Number for the Group does not recognize my physician's NPI Number.
This is what exactly happened:
practice, his individual provider number with Medicare also changed as being practice, his individual provider number with Medicare also changed as being assigned to the group. assigned to the group.
I resolved it by going to the NPPES website and changed his information. With his right provider number under the group and the NPI number linked to the group, NPI number linked to his provider number.
Really, if you have a problem like this, do the following:
- Contact your Local Carrier for Medicare (after checking the IVR the reason of
the denial);
- Contact NPPES;
- Contact your Clearinghouse too!
Resolving this kind of issue is very easy as long as you find time to do it and contact the above as soon as possible!
It also happened to us with RailRoad Medicare!
